The place is huge and they have a lot of variety. There's chinese, mexican, and American food. I've been here twice now. The first time was good, the second time was bad. The cooks are awesome, but their servers barely speak any English. I asked for a hibiscus tea and it took a few times until our server understood what I was asking for.

I will start by saying I am not a buffet fan, usually I avoid them when possible. This place opened in January and it is very close to my work. Lunch time came around and I could not decide what I wanted to eat, idea, go to that new buffet joint and chose from a variety. As I said this is a new place, the building is new as well so everything is still clean and shiny. They have a dual theme, Asian and South Western (BBQ). I tried selection from both genres and found the Asian to be more appetizing. They had a large selection of Asian dishes, about 20 I believe. They looked good and appeared to be wok'd fresh in the Wok behind the Asian part of the buffet. I sampled a variety and they had good flavor & tender, fresh, quality meat, all good when eating Asian food. There was a large variety of South Western dishes, a dozen plus sides and half a dozen meat options including grilled chicken, sausage, brisket, etc. I sampled most of the meat offerings and some of the sides including corn on the cob, mashed potatoes, pinto beans, dinner rolls & baked beans. Most everything was very bland. Unfortunately I missed the BBQ sauces on the first pass and ate my chicken and sausage plain, again bland. On the second pass I found the BBQ sauce, one sweet red sauce and a golden mustard based sauce, these are a must when eating the BBQ selections. The dinner roll was hot fresh and tasty, the corn on the cob was terrible, over cooked and flavorless. The desserts were not impressive. They have a small selection including puddings, cobblers, jello, softserver ice cream. There were no pies, cakes, etc. It appeared the goal was large pans of easy desserts to serve to the masses like banana, rice and bread pudding, an apple and peach cobbler, etc. Flavor was minimal. My buffet was reasonably good but on the pricey side, $9+ just for the buffet and had I opted for a soda that would have added another $2. I will stop in here on occasion for the variety and some tasty Asian options.

This is possibly the worst buffet we've been to in the Salt Lake area. Well, there was that one that went out of business where the old KMart building is on 54th South just west of Bangerter. That one was bad too. All of the food was mediocre at best, and horrible at worst, with the exception of the salmon, which wasn't bad. The salad bar was about as lame as they come. The one saving grace was the awesome gal that kept getting our plates and filling our water. I won't go back again, when I can spend about the same amount of money and go to the Chinese Gourmet on State and 45th (better known as Chuckee Chinese), or Kings Buffet.

Yummy, clean, and fresh. We've never had a bad experience here. Beef broccoli, grilled corn on the cob, varieties of fish, bourbon chicken, eclars, mango mousse cake.... Some faves

Not that great! It was around 8 pm when I ate there and the food was really bad and old looking. The server I had and the person taking my money they get five stars and this place was very clean. But the food quality was very poor. Probably won't do it again. Kerry G

The reason we even came to this buffet, was because my wife heard an ad on the radio about this place being a Vegas Style Buffet. They purposely left out, "comparable to the worst Vegas buffets put there" I liked the Asian food for the most part. The orange chicken is really good. The noodles and rice were pretty good. I tried a shrimp dish and veggie dish. Both were ok. Everything else, and I mean everything else was made with the lowest ingredients. The taste was just off a bit on everything. I think the mashed potatoes were made from a box, the ice cream was just frozen sugar flavor water. The desserts were all fake tasting and felt like the stuff seat cushions are made of. The brownies were good. My wife and I tried as many things as possible, just hoping to find anything that was good. don't see a reason why I would ever come back.

Not worth the visit. I went, at the request of the friends we were dining with. Dirty tables, food that seemed as if it was reheated from the night before. We can't be sure, but we felt kinda queasy afterwards, and couldn't help but attribute it to that.

This place was pretty good. They have a pretty nice salad bar, BBq section , fried foods ( onion rings , fries, jalapenos, etc) cooked vegetable and a Chinese food section. It all tasted pretty good. I walked in with my friend and we were really pleased with all the food selections. The price is pretty good and their dessert section was ok. The people were really nice. Not quite as extensive as other buffets in the area but that was ok. The food tasted better than those other buffets. I'll be back.

First and last time I'll ever eat here. I normally don't do buffets and this place reminded me why I don't. The tables and floors were filthy. The food was swimming in grease under the heated lamps. Salad bar was limited and the only fruit being served were "green" oranges. The dessert bar was so pathetic, not sure you could call it the dessert bar What really was a turnoff was watching the lady clean tables and go in the back and start prepping food with her hands without using gloves. Customer was service was great, but that won't be enough for my return.

Pretty good buffet. If you are looking for a wide selection to choose from then this is your place. The options that are available are Chinese, Mexican, southern home cooking, good from the grill, salad bar, and then dessert. Although it may not sound like much, there are many options in each category. Recommendations for this place would be the desserts, specifically the bread pudding and apple cobbler. Overall the buffet isn't bad and I'm sure I'll eat here again sometime.

I have been to Chow Time a number of times. The food is always good and generally fresh. The servers and staff are usually helpful. Now for my last visit (on 4/7/2015). We arrived at about 5:30pm. My son wasn't there yet, so we paid for him and let the person at the front know that he would be joining us (there were four of us and three of us - son included - had a soda). We went to section C and had a hard time finding a table that wasn't dirty. It wasn't busy, so there were plenty of empty tables, but most of them were in need of being wiped off (crumbs, spills, etc). We finally found a place to sit and got started. Much of the food looked like it was still there from lunch (the macaroni and cheese was crusted over, the chicken strips were old and missing much of the breading. . .). My son arrived and didn't have any problem at the front when he let them know that he was with us. Just after my son sat down, he asked about a drink. My wife told him know that we paid for a soda for him so he should ask the server. Well, this is where the problem started. After about 5 minutes of not seeing a server, I got up and looked for ANY server. I guess they were all on dinner break because I couldn't find one anywhere (I looked in all the sections and they were nowhere to be found). After trying to find someone I finally went and got the drink for my son myself. I was hoping that someone would see me and say something, but they didn't, and the server didn't even notice that there was another drink on the table. The rest of the meal was uneventful and ok. Needless to say, we didn't leave much of a tip (she did at least bring us napkins, but I don't think that we are as messy as she must have thought by the amount of napkins she left).

My wife and I went there tonight about 8:00 pm it is the first and last time we will go there, I loaded up my plate with shrimp vegetables and some meat which they called prime rib.the meat was so dry you have to smother it with gravy.the shrimp wasn't de veined which is a health hazard one of the worst buffets I've been to. It was not worth 27 bucks for two people that was without drinks. PEOPLE DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY. I TALKED TO THE GIRL AT THE FRONT DESK AND SHE DIDN'T SEEM TO CARE ABOUT MY OPINION SO I GIVE IT 1 STAR

They charge a 10% gratuity for groups of 6 or more. So there asking you to pay apox $10 fee for them just to bring you your drinks. So what motivates the server to bring your drinks? None they already have their TIP, we waited forever. The food is bland at best. The seating is a tight and small. I personally will never return.

Let me start by saying, I hate buffets. I find that most are overpriced and dirty. So when my husband suggested we try Chow Time, the ONLY reason I agreed is because it only opened in January and so I figured it will still be relatively clean. As it turns out, it was very clean. The restroom was a little gross but I mentioned it to an employee and it was immediately taken care of. The employees were working hard to clean tables and the food stations. I appreciated that. And the food was actually very good. It has both BBQ and Chinese food which I liked. Best part? You see them actively cooking and replacing food behind the counters. It isn't kept warm in the back and then brought out. The BBQ side is decent. The bourbon chicken was excellent as were the baked beans. My husband loved the roast beef. I didn't care for the Mac & Cheese as I thought it was a little bland but my son loved it. And the Chinese food was really good. You see the cooks making it in woks behind the counter and putting it hot right on the buffet. The orange chicken was really good. I liked the Mongolian beef too. The pot stickers were a little watery and soft but the filling tasted pretty good. Just wish they offered egg drop soup as it is my favorite and I missed not having it. The meals were reasonably priced but you do have to purchase your drink separately which I didn't like. I feel that is I am paying $12 for a buffet you should include the drink but maybe that is just me. So for a buffet, I was pleasantly surprised and my husband was really happy. We will be returning

I went back to this place for a work function. They have made some changes and it seemed quite a bit better than my original 1 star review during their grand opening period. I stuck with some simple Asian style chickens and it was ok.

Just eat here tonight despite the bad reviews. All I can say is boy were they all fools and have horrible taste buds. This place was awesome! Honestly best BBQ in Utah. Awesome ribs, brisket, chicken wings, pulled pork. Way good mac n cheese. Warm buttery rolls. Tons of sides. Pretty good Asian food. Finished off with warm peach cobbler and bread pudding. Food was way good. Best buffet in Utah easy. Don't believe these false reviews. This place is great

Pretty decent for a Chinese buffet. It's better than the other one close by, buffet city I think. They need fresh fruit and more dessert options.

Let me start out with saying that my co-workers love going to this restaurant. They say you get a lot of food for little money. I say you pay too much and get garbage back. I've only gone once and don't plan to ever go back. Let me try and bullet my distaste. 1 - vegetables where unripe. 2 - ham fried rice was so bad that my son, who usually eats a lot of it, took one bite and walked away. 3 - I had some soup with imitation crab (I believe,) that was crunchy. The flavor was good but the crunchy meat stopped me from finishing it. 4 - Most of the meats I got were dried out. 5 - desserts, save the cobblers, are tasteless. A worker there said it was because they are intended for children who don't have sophisticated taste buds. Which I don't really argue but my kids didn't like anything on their dessert area. 6 - my wife and I didn't like their Chinese (while my co-workers think this is the best.) Next, our visit was also tainted by a customer service rep who cornered me about my experience and when I tried to explain some of the items listed above she got really irritated with me. This got my wife really upset. It was very upsetting to us to have this customer service rep treat us the way she did. Later, after I had left, she asking a friend, who stayed behind, if he was yelping his experience and offended him with her comments. Now, having said all my distaste for this place I do have to say the following positive items: 1 - the servers where really nice, fast, and friendly. 2 - the place was very clean and I did like how open it felt. 3 - My co-workers go there at least twice a month (they rate it above Chuck A Rama but below Golden Coral. if I recall it correctly.) When they decide to go there as a group I go somewhere else or change their minds to go somewhere with more taste, even if I have to spend more money.

Lots of different choices! The dessert was pretty good too! Their website says they are closed Tuesdays but they are open 7 days a week!

My friends and I stopped at this place for lunch with a tourism company, I don't know if it's the group price or what but the buffet only charges $10 for each person, which includes free drinks, tips and tax. $10 that's all ! This place is really huge and clean not to mention the various food choices! The service here is also really great, the servers would come to you and start a casual chat and always check if the customers are in need of anything. Highly recommend this place to everyone !

The food is sub-par. Everything is over cooked, bland, and greasy. Everyone one in our party, became ill. The restaurant was a mess, we waited in line 20 minutes, while tables were empty, but not cleaned off. The hostess did not seat us, even though we were told to wait to be seated. Our server was very nice though, and very diligent, even though she was 1of only 4 waitress working. I will not be returning there. 12 hours later and we are all sick.

I wish i could give a ZERO review. Don't Go Here if Your POLY, esp if you have a large group. My family and I went here to eat and let me just say the service and such. SUCKS!! We can't comment on the food because they made us move 3 different times because we "took too many tables". We didn't mind sitting together on one giant table or not. We usually sit separate because we are a large group. Finally they moved us to a section where there were no service and tables that were still dirty and piled with dishes. We got up, demanded our money back and left. I don't understand we pay for our meal and yet we have to be pushed to the side like some dogs. Where do you want us to sit? on each other's laps?

I like the feel of this place. It's spacious, so you don't feel crammed. It's great for people with large families. The food selection is great, so many choices. I tried a lil bit of their entrees and they were yummy. I really enjoyed their orange chicken! I went about 45 minutes til closing time and the food they had out was still fresh. I worried we'd have to be scraping the bottoms of the pan! But that was not the case. The only thing this place needs is a better desert selection. They only had jello, pudding, and creamed ice (because that's what it tasted like). I think they should add fresh fruit and more desert variety. other than that, i will be returning.

This place is pretty good for a buffet. Compared to golden corral and chuckarama i like that they are a little bit different. They have a fun birthday wheel you can spin in your birthday for some really nice gifts too. Service is good, the wait staff is friendly.

Way too loud probably because of the cement floors. Food was all over the floor at our booth. Salad bar was a waste, not many toppings and I had to cut up my own lettuce, tomatoes and carrots. Soup was good. Corn on Cobb soggy and gross seasoning. Prime rib not prime tasting. Bourbon chicken had good flavor, ribs were yummy. Rolls were soft and buttery. Hot wings were good but more sweet flavor than hot. Chinese food was very good I would recommend starting there! Dessert was a disappointment...lots of jello, puddings and only ice cream (no toppings).

First and for most let me tell you my story! The place is very nice and clean but we all know we don't eat decor!!!!! I am culinary certified and this place is straight out of a bag and a box! I know I know why is a culinary certified person there!?? My mother invited me she said it was good ha! Everything I had lacked seasoning and flavor! Tho everything was hot. Salad was wet and not crisp( salad spinner hello) I saw a lady make pudding and had gloves on BUT when she went to wash her hands I thought she would take off her gloves.... Nope she washed her gloves, her gloves come on! There disposable!! The only good thing I ate was the Asian food, which was made by and Asian guy go figure! But all in all it was a buffet... Everyone's second best choice!

Since the last time my wife and I went to check out time, there was a response on our review from someone in management from Chow time grill. After reading this we decided to give them another shot. It's kind of funny because based on the response I saw from management I felt that they believe their recipes were good for the masses, and they would make no changes. This time I made sure to try many of the same things I had tried before. I felt that things were not as bland as before. I don't know if they updated their recipes or if I'm just crazy. All of that being said I felt the food for the most part tasted very good without adding salt and pepper this trip. This time when I had the ribs they were fall off the bone which is a little too tender for me. FYI I know I'm picky and hard to please. The flavor was great, and the BBQ sauce was tasty as well. This time the. Desserts were better. When I first walked up to the desert line, I touch the Panda the bread pudding was in with my hands to check for the temperature. The pan was cold, so I decided against trying the bread pudding. But the second time I went to the buffet there was a new pan of bread pudding I touch the pan and it was hot. So I tasted it and it was hot and very delicious. The service was great just like the previous time. I did not improve the star rating because the jury is still out on this one for me. I will return again and if they stay consistently good I will upgrade my star rating. It is very nice to see a restaurant but is concerned about their reviews and is willing to make changes to improve a guest's visit. Most restaurants don't seem to care.

When I first came here, I wasn't s big fan. A few months later, I received s coupon in the mail for a free buffet at chow time. Like any other cheap bastard who wouldn't turn down free food, I thought I'd give it another shot. The quality of food is still not up to par. The prime rib that was advertised on the coupon was available, however, it wasn't very tasty even with the bland au jus sauce and watery horseradish sauce. The Chinese food selection wasn't great either. Everything looked too oily or deep fried. Maybe that's typical Chinese food which I'm also not a fan of. Mexican food section was also a "miss." Their beef enchilada was soggy. The chicken quesadilla was good :) Southern food section was also pretty heavy and I only tried to corn and green beans. I guess they added some flavor to the corn, but it wasn't great. Sausages were yummy :) Soup section: I only tried the egg drop soup which was extremely thick -_- The salad bar: I tried the crab salad and the crab seemed to have sit out for too long and it was a little chewy and tough to eat. The cucumber and onion salad was too vinaigrette-y if that's even a word. Dessert bar was mediocre. There's jello and some Rice Krispies treats dipped in chocolate. Ehhhh. I was not impressed with this place. Buffet City's layout and food quality is much better. Here, there is one long row of food items while at buffet city, there are smaller islands avoid going the distance and hiking back to your seat. Servers are nice and I now have 3 cups of water at my table haha. 2 are half empty and the last is full.

I was excited about the BBQ portion of the buffet, but a bit nervous after reading reviews. Whether we caught them on a good day, or they've now maintained improvements, it was a great meal. The chicken, ribs, and brisket were all moist and tender. Not a fan of their house sauce, which lacked a woody flavor and was very sweet. But the rubs used on the meats suited my palate. Everything was in small serving dishes, and was quite fresh. Employees stayed busy properly refreshing the items. The temperature of the food was amazing to me--the cold foods were chilled and the hot foods steamy. I had a small sampling of their ethnic offerings, and really liked the Mexican and Chinese bites. The Jicama & Mango salad was a great marriage of flavors (I'm pretty sure it had peanut oil and a sprinkle of chile powder). I would prefer they offer deveined shrimp, especially since the quality of their shrimp is better than I've experienced at other buffets. And Mr. H. was looking forward to the fried jalapeño, but the one I picked for him was infernally hot. Also, it is time for a deep cleaning of where the booth tables and seats meat the walls. Service was great, and the place was clean overall.
